Having Problems With The iTunes Store?
Are any other lincolnites out there having problems with the iTunes music store? I’ve been following the discussion on the Apple boards all weekend, since apparently tons of people around the nation, myself included, either weren’t able to access the iTunes music store or were able to access the store but had tons of problems and delays there. Well, the current hypothesis is that this isn’t an Apple issue, but a Time Warner Cable Roadrunner issue. Seeing as how TWC has nearly a monopoly here in town, I wonder if other Lincolnites have been experiencing similar problems (if it truly is a TWC issue)? Not getting my weekly download of The Office can cause some serious withdrawal symptoms.

Nice, a little corporate bickering, perhaps? Odds are it’s not intentional—if it’s even TWC’s fault—but it would be oh so much more fun to watch the fallout if TWC is actively doing something to block or slow down iTunes.

I’ve been hearing a lot of problems with the new version of iTunes (7 I think?)
Mine has been acting funky recently too. Taking out all songs on my ipod under an album except one?

Well I wasn’t having problems, until you said something. But I’m downloading some torrents right now, which tends to hog up my bandwidth. And I’ve never seen a broken image in the iTS until now. I had to grab a screenshot of that.

Jwilt - The Apple boards were raging over the weekend. They deleted a few threads, including the one I posted in because there were some really angry comments and foul language directed at Apple on both the mac and windows forums before people began thinking it was TWC that was the issue. Someone else speculated that the Russian mob was attacking Apple because they were pissed off that Visa had ended transactions with the Allofmp3 site. LOL.
DMB - I have had SO many issues since iTunes 7 came out. I have wiped it off and reinstalled several times, went back to 6.0.5 and so on. What sort of problems have you been experiencing?

I like the Russian mob theory. That’s awesome.

Well Mr. T I didn’t update from 6.0.5 for a while because, I had nothing new to update on my iPod. When I finally got around to installing it first of all my computer wouldn’t start up after I installed it. I called a computer friend of mine, he had me take out my ram and put it back in, worked fine. related? unrelated? I don’t know.
In the most recent time putting songs on there, it took songs OFF my iPod but I never told it to do that. For instance, I’m a big Dave Matthew Band fan (D.M.B. get it?) and every single one of my studio albums that I have on there was missing every song, except one. And these were only the studio albums that I have the physical CD, in other words ones that I haven’t stolen. And the weird thing was, it only happend to my DMB collection (I think). My other artists which I have multiple albums, nothing happened.

DMB - I have heard of that issue. Apparently, some disgruntled programmer who was angry for not getting a raise wrote script which actually allows iTunes to remove music it encounters on iPods when you sync it up to iTunes. Music to be removed included Dave Matthews, Jay-Z, the Eagles, and other popular acts. This script still exists and Apple is having issues with finding and removing it.
OK joking aside, that does sound like a seriously annoying issue. Perhaps your iPod’s hard drive is damaged? Have you tried resetting it back to factory specifications and see if it happens again? I’m betting prices will decline after Thanksgiving so that may be the time to purchase a new one. The only thing holding me back from buying one of the new nanos is that I am worried that they will come out with a new and better one the week afterwords. I hate it when they do that.
By the way, an interesting article came out today at the NPR website with all sorts of interesting tips about iPods. I had no idea one could, for example, read wikipedia entries, watch youtube videos on iPods, or change the font and graphics!

The funny thing is it’s only happened once. I don’t have enough cash to get another iPod right now anyway. I love the look of that new red mini iPod but, I couldn’t get a mini, I got to much music.
I could go for an 80GB though.

and it did it to ONE of my coldplay albums.
