The massacre is finally over.  Final tally 76-39.

Most points given up in Nebraska football history.
48 first half points, most given up in Nebraska football history.
Kansas scored a TD on 10 straight drives.

I turned it off after 28-14 cause I knew it was over.

Another interesting side note: Jim Rose did not call the game due to personal reasons.  Greg Sharpe, who does Nebraska’s TV basketball play by play, filled in.  Sharpe also called Nebraska’s spring game on TV that was broadcast on the NFL network.  Rose did not feel well last week during the Texas broadcast as his voice was struggling all game.  I have a hard time believing that this week is because of a sore voice.  If it was sickness, then David Witty, vice president and general manager of the Husker Sports Network, probably would have told the LJS that it was the case.  This is either 1) family matter or 2) work problem with a client or another co-worker.  I didn’t listen to the pregame but apparently the broadcast was pretty mum on the subject.

It will be interesting to see if Jim-bo is back next week.

Aw, c’mon DMB, this is the season of cynical speculation. Surely you can start up with a good rumor to explain Rose’s absence…

D.M.B. November 4, 2007 at 11:43am

I can start many many many MANY rumors on why Rose might be gone.  And some might be closer to the truth than just pure rumor.

The fact is that I haven’t been paying that much attention.

I hypothesized on a husker message board that maybe Rose was another victim of the Pederson regime.  I was promptly banned.

Rose will toot anyone’s horn who is in charge.  He is the pure corporate butt kisser.  There is no doubt in my mind that he disagreed with the decision Pederson made in firing Solich.  But could he come out and say that?  Of course not.  He had to fall in line with SP and do everything that SP asked of him.  There’s no doubt in my mind that Rose thinks right now that Callahan/Coz should be fired.  Can he say that?  Of course not.  Even though Pederson is gone, he has to toe the company line.

The question is did he say something?  Did a question to Callahan rub him the wrong way?  Of course it wasn’t a public comment or we would have heard that already.  So maybe it was something said behind the scenes.  Our 1st indication will be this weeks KSU game.  If Rose is back, then it was an isolated incident or it really was a sickness.  The 2nd indication will be the end of the season.  If Rose is back after Callahan is fired, then it was a problem with the soon to be former coach, if he doesn’t come back, its a much bigger issue.

How’s that for speculation?

Sorry to be off topic, but damn, Adrian Peterson is a DemiGod.

Yes are correct, Mr. T. I’m a Packer fan but able to say that was incredible. And against a pretty decent defense as well.

Someone mentioned on my blog that they had read someone on a message board couldn’t help be notice the lack of Husker outrage after yesterday. Someone responded that after you’ve taken five bullets to the chest, the sixth doesn’t really matter so much. A little dramatic as far as analogies go, but pretty much. I would also venture that people don’t mind as much because it was Kansas. They’ve been down for so long and have been pretty good to us the entire time. I’ll totally cheer on Kansas the rest of the year.

A blog to come about that Mr. T.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE tell me this is a permanant change!  I wish no ill will to Jim Rose but as a play-by-play announcer goes, he is awful.  He spends more time impressing us with his knowledge of where a guy is from, what his dog’s name is, where he ate supper last night, and his mom’s maiden name that he barely has time for time, down and distance.  Greg Sharp was well-prepared, enthusiastic, and best of all, succinct.  Play-by-play means you describe that action, not read a player’s biography before the next play.  Bringing is Sharp would be just another in the many steps that will have this program back on top.  First game I have listened to in years.  Thanks Greg.  Please, don’t be a stranger!
