Another Friday Five

June 2, 2006 at 7:42pm By: D.M.B. Posted in D.M.B. Sports Report

5 things I should have written about in the month of May that I didn’t get to because of an insanely busy schedule:

1.  The up and down end of the season by the Nebraska baseball team.

2. The end of the HS sports season. State Soccer was covered here by Mr. Wilson. In state track Omaha North won boys Class A while Millard North won girls class A. Class B was won by the Beatrice Boys and the Pierce girls. Class C was won by the East Butler boys and theCrofton girls.  Axtell and Falls City Sacred Heart tied for the Class D championship on the boys side and Humphrey St. Francis won the Class D girls title. The baseball championship was won by OmahaWestside.

3.  Barry Bonds finally moved past Babe Ruth for 2nd all time on the home run charts.

4.  Does anybody in Nebraska give a flying frick about the NBA or NHL playoffs?

5.  Why parents and coaches of little leaguers should realize...that it’s just a game.

So there you have it.  Hopefully it won’t be another month till my next post.

4. I ‘give a flying frick’ about the NBA playoffs.  This postseason has been the best since the Jordan era.  Every series with two exceptions (Detroit vs. Milwaukee, round 1; Dallas vs. Denver, round 1) has been intriguing and exciting. It is guaranteed that legendary status will be cemented for one of two of the game’s best young stars. Either Dirk or Dwyane will take over the Finals for their team.  I’d like to see the Heat win because it’s a Shaq triumph over Kobe.  Plus, the Heat would have to thank the Bulls (my team) for scaring them and waking them up this postseason.

...but other than me and a couple of my friends, I don’t think anyone here cares about the NBA.
